You guys, Thanksgiving is literally TOMORROW and I seriously cannot contain my excitement. Not only do I love the chance to spend time with loved ones and reflect oneverything that I'm grateful for, but it also means that in a mere 48 hours I get to jump in head first to a full month of non-stop Christmas celebration! The holiday season is probably one of my favorite cold-weather times of year to dress for because I feel like it's totally acceptable to layer on layers on layers and make your outfit as festive as you wish without it looking too out of place. ;D The outfit for this week's #bloggersFALLfor trend is honestly one of my go-to's to wear around this time of year because it fits so well into the above qualifications!! Plus for any of my nursing mamas out there this is actually a nursing friendly outfit that can be worn and not freeze you from the inside out while feeding your baby because the majority of you can still be covered! Chambray is in my opinion one of the BEST staple items to have in your closet full of clothes, so much that mine actually stays in my closet all year round instead of getting switched out with the seasons. I love a chambray with white jeans or bright colored shorts in the warm months, but in the colder months I am all about layering it with sweaters, vests, and scarves. It's been weirdly cold in Louisville as of late, so this outfit got layered with all of the above. :) I so hope that everyone has the BEST of Thanksgivings with family and loved ones!! May your hearts be grateful, your tummy's well fed, and your holiday style on point. ;D Also, be sure to check out how all of my lovely blogger friends styled their own chambray looks below and give their blogs some love! This will be the last week in our #bloggersFALLfor series, but the friendships made with these sweet girls are long lasting! I love that blogging gives me the chance to interact with and meet such amazing women every day! I'm definitely grateful for all of the opportunities! Cheers!

So you know that friend that you are ALWAYS waiting on no matter what the circumstance? The friend that is at least five minutes late to everything? I hate to admit it, but I am that friend. I'd blame it on having a baby, except for that I was the perpetually late friend even before getting pregnant and having Emery and that was with friends that already had kids so.... I basically have no excuse. It's just one of those things where I am always running late because of who I am as a person, and it's definitely not my finest trait. Since becoming a nanny and mom my lateness has become even more cumbersome than before because babies and toddlers HATE waiting more than anything in the whole world, and my entire life now revolves around their eating & napping schedules that are imperative to keep close to unless I want to deal with the meltdown of the century. Over the years I've worked really hard to try and fix my punctuality problem to no avail, but I have however become quite the master of a few really quick and easy beauty secrets to help keep my getting ready time in the morning to 15 minutes tops. Less time taken getting ready in the mornings equals more playtime for the kiddos and more time to get other things done, and I'll take all of that quality time that I can get! Also, in addition to my 15 minute beauty secrets I also have a great discount code AND a giveaway opportunity for one of my newly found/favorite makeup brands, so keep reading and as always share the love with your friends! :)
Tip #1: Embrace cute hats and dry shampoo. This tip is first because it probably saves me the most time overall. Not only do I save time on not having to wash my hair as often (any new moms out there that can't remember the last time you showered relate??) and it saves me time in the mornings while actually styling my hair because I'm not always having to style from square one. My natural hair is curly and thick and takes SO LONG to style out of the shower, so I love being able to just spray some dry shampoo in my hair in the mornings, brush it out, and then throw on a hat to cover any waves that I don't feel like straightening! The nice thing about hats to is that there is literally a hat for every season: wool hats for fall, beanies for winter, and either baseball caps or floppy hats for spring and summer! Believe me when I say I take full advantage of this beauty secret all year round and LOVE the time that it saves me!!
Tip #2: Versatility in your closet is crucial. There was a time in my life where I literally owned closets full of clothes. You read that right, closets, and in more than one. I seriously love shopping, and the mountains of clothing in my house were proof of my addiction. The problem with having so many clothes though is that it would take me FOREVER to figure out what I wanted to wear in the mornings. I tried picking out my outfits the night before, but that wasted twice as much time because I'd spend an eternity deciding what to wear the night before and then would inevitably change my mind by morning and have to start the whole process over again. I finally couldn't take it anymore and switched to a wardrobe capsule, donating over five garbage bags of clothes in the process. You don't have to give away all of your clothes if you don't want to, but I would highly recommend making sure that the clothes that do live in the main portion of your closet are so versatile to the point where you could literally grab any top, bottoms, and shoes and be happy with how they look together. If there's something that doesn't quite go that you can't let go of, put it away somewhere where it won't be seen and save it for a special day when you need a little pick-me-up or a special occasion outfit. Being able to get dressed in less than two minutes and always feel comfortable with how my clothes look together is a huge time saver, plus has made me a smarter shopper as well. If you're curious to learn more about this system, go ahead and check it our here.
Tip #3: Make smart make-up choices. My make-up was probably the hardest part of my morning routine to cut time on because I feel like I need a minimum amount done to my face to feel presentable to the public. My ultimate solution was to prioritize what my most important make-up items were, and then to make sure that the products that I use last me all day long so that I'm not losing time throughout the day reapplying. My top make-up items that I can't go without are foundation, mascara, and lip color. I use Clinique for my primer, concealer, foundation, and powder, then use Too-Faced mascara for my eyes. For my lip color, I've recently become a HUGE fan of Lip Sense's complete lip kit including color stain, gloss, and the remover. I will admit that it took me a really long time to try Lip Sense because the price is comparable to lipstick sold at Nordstrom and Sephora, and I am normally REALLY weary of MLM's, but since trying it I am seriously amazed at how well it works. This stuff literally stays on ALL DAY LONG, and I LOVE being able to wear lipstick on the daily without having to reapply! Even with how much I love the product I have no intentions of becoming a distributor (and honestly still kinda hate the fact that it is an MLM) BUT I am dedicated to sharing 100% honest opinions with you all on brands & products that I try and I really do love this one! Also, because I am all about sharing the love, I have teamed up with Lip Sense distributor Rachel McCarty to offer all of my readers an EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNT AND GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY!! From now until November 30th 2016, you can receive 10% off of your entire Lip Sense order done through Rachel by mentioning the code LATEFRIEND10 when you message her your order! On top of that, everyone of my readers who puts in an order with her by November 19th will also be entered into a giveaway for an extra surprise color free of charge!! If you were like me where you've been wanting to try Lip Sense but have maybe been hung up on the price, this is the perfect time to give it a shot! Not only will you get the discount off of anything that you buy, but can also have the opportunity to win an extra color! For any wanting to take advantage of this deal, you can contact/follow Rachel to order through Instagram or Facebook.
Hopefully some of these tips are able to help anyone out there that is a little like me and has a hard time finding time to get ready! I may forever be running late, but at least by saving time where I can I'm able to put more time into the things I love, and that my friends makes for one happy baby and mama! :D Do you have any fun beauty tips or routines that help you get ready faster in the mornings?? If you do be sure to drop them in the comments below! Heaven knows that I need all the help I can get when it comes to being on time and I'd love to hear what works well for all of you!! Cheers!
It's week five of six with our #bloggersFALLfor collaboration, and thus far into the project I've learned two new things about myself. The first is that I really love fall trends and honestly feel like it is the most forgiving/comfortable season to dress for; the second is that about 90 percent of my wardrobe is the result of either online shopping or Target. For some reason taking a toddler and a baby to the mall to go shopping is just not the easiest thing in the world, so my clothing choices have taken a slight shift where I still try to shop stylish but in the most convenient way possible. ;D This long cardigan is a major favorite of mine because it is so warm and literally feels like I'm wearing a blanket, but has such cute details in the pockets and collar that I feel like I can wear it with almost anything and have it work! I kept this outfit as a basic everyday look with one of my favorite t-shirts, skinny jeans, and loafers, but this cardigan would also look great with a mid-thigh to knee-length dress, flares and heeled boots, leggings and a tunic, or even a nice pair of dress pants and a blouse for any of our professional ladies! I could honestly probably wear this cardigan every day which makes it a big staple item in my closet! Versatility is such a huge part of avoiding unnecessary clutter in the closet and any part of life that can be simplified while still looking good is a major win in my book! Be sure to check out how all of my lovely blogger friends styled their own looks below and check out each of their posts! We all have one more trend to feature for you this season coming next week so stay tuned!! Cheers! :)

I live in a constant battle of wanting to have my life perfectly organized and neat, and naturally being an incredibly disorganized and messy person. Before having Emery, I managed a fairly organized life by doing all cleaning and to-do's during the evenings and weekends when I wasn't nannying and things stayed fairly neat, but once I found myself in a situation where my baby never "went home" because she was actually mine, my entire system got thrown out the window and I felt like I was constantly in a state of chaos and trying to play catch up. I knew that I needed a change, so I did some serious self-reflection and was able to come up with three simple things that personally helped me to get back on track and feel less overwhelmed with mom life. It's definitely not a perfect system, but for me has made a huge difference in how productive I am throughout the day, and who doesn't want to feel productive and good about life??
The first step to getting my life more organized was to find a way to hold myself more accountable to the hours in my day. I can't even tell you how many nights I would put Emery down for bed and then realize that I hadn't found time to do simple daily but necessary household chores, and then would end up staying up into the late hours of the night just to get things done. As a new mom heaven knows that I wasn't getting enough sleep just as a result of having a young baby, and this definitely wasn't helping. I had finally had enough and went to Target to purchase the most detailed planner that I could find. I found one that was cute enough to be left out on the counter, big enough to be noticed, and that had monthly, daily, and hourly slots for me to document my day. Instead of using the planner traditionally to plan out my day however, I basically use it as a daily accountability tracker for how I'm spending my daytime hours. If I spend an hour and a half playing outside with Emery and H, then I write it down. If I get distracted and end up perusing through Pinterest for two hours during nap time instead of folding laundry, that goes down too. At the end of the day it is SO helpful to be able to have a visual representation of my day and do some self reflecting on how I can make the next day more productive. My planner also has a section for weekly to-do's, but also has a "top 3" section at the top of each day so that I can really prioritize what my most important tasks are that day and work to get those done. As someone who had previously just crammed all of her chores into the weekend blocks, this has been a huge help with breaking things down. All of this documenting did take a little bit of practice as it goes against that naturally chaotic personality of mine, but has seriously been one of the best things in helping me on my journey out of my own disorganized brain!
The second step to me getting out of my "new mom mess" was to invest in a really good watch. I'd worn watches here and there when I felt like they went with outfits, but knew that I really needed a fully hands free way to keep track of time in the form of a watch that I would actually want to wear all the time. If I was going to be keeping track of my day hour by hour in my planner, having a practical but cool watch was an essential purchase. For me, this JORD Wooden Watch was the perfect answer. I have fairly thin wrists with awkwardly large hands, so finding a watch that fits well is always a challenge because the men's watches look huge and bulky on my arm but a women's watch is too small and looks awkward next to my hands. JORD actually custom fits their watches to your wrist size so that when the watch comes it's already a perfect fit! The watch I chose is actually a men's watch and I feel like it fits perfectly on my wrist AND with my hands! Aside from the perfect fit, I am seriously in LOVE with the look of this watch. The fact that it's made from wood just makes it a really cool, unique watch, and I love the pop of color with the navy face! It's clean and simple enough that I can read it quickly while carrying two babies and three bags of groceries, but stylish enough that I can wear it with basically anything in my closet and immediately feel like my entire outfit has been elevated to a whole new level of nice. As someone who is struggling to find time to really dedicate to myself, this watch has been a huge plus! I wear mine every day and always get compliments on it when I go out! It's really nice because even though the original purpose of getting the watch was to be able to better keep track of time throughout the day, it's also helped me to feel more like a "stylish" mom, and that's something I'll take any day of the week!JORD does offer men's and women's styles, so for anyone that has been feeling like they want a cool watch and haven't yet found one, definitely check them out! :) Also, as promised, JORD has given all of my readers the chance to win a gift card to their shop so that you can all get a watch of your own! Details for the giveaway will be at the bottom of this post so keep reading and be sure to enter and tell all your friends!!
At the end of the day, the most important lesson that I've come to learn while organizing my day is that after all is said and done as long as my kids and family are happy then I can consider it a successful day. This one can be hard to remember, especially because even with a super planner and a fab watch there are still going to be those days when it's 12:30 in the morning and I'm scrubbing our bathroom because it needed to get done and the hours in the day just didn't allow for it. On days like those, I especially like to look back on my day and see how much time I dedicated to my family, H, and even friends. If my day was filled with reading children's books, playing on the playground outside, playing pat-a-cake a million times and cuddling with my favorite guy while watching a movie, then honestly the rest of the stuff doesn't matter as much. I'll still use my planner and my watch to make sure things get done in good time, but I'm a mom, wife, and nanny first and want to make sure that I'm giving those my top priority. Those precious moments with the people I care about most really do fly by so quickly, and I want to make sure that I'm making every minute count.
shirt: target (with lettering from hobby lobby) | cardigan: forever 21 | skirt: the rose nest | flats: old navy
make-up inspo: twiggy/mod 60's (similar look here) | mua: my sister alicia who is way better at make up than I am :)
For this blog post to make much sense to anyone reading, you first need to know that I have a weird obsession with the 1960's. I seriously sometimes think that I was born in the wrong decade. I love their music, movies, tv-shows, social culture, and of course their style and fashion! When the theme for our #bloggersFALLfor trend was set as bold eyes or lips for this week, I knew immediately that I wanted to do something inspired by the mod-60's, and what better inspiration to use for bold eyes than Twiggy!? She was famous for her bold eye look with the cut crease and dramatic drawn-on bottom lashes, and I thought that it'd be a blast to try and put a modern spin on the look while still keeping her as the true inspiration. Since I knew that it'd be completely impractical for me to rock this make-up on a regular nannying/momming day, I figured that I'd save it for when I had an opportunity to get out of the house and dress up a little bit! I love mixing patterns and colors when I can so I chose to pair the make-up with a basic burgundy checked cardigan, striped skirt, and my FAVORITE yellow lace-up flats! I also specifically chose to pair my "going out" look with my "imperfect" tee because the back story behind it hits so close to home for me. I'd be lying if I said that I've had a super easy time loving my post-baby body. I seriously LOVED being pregnant and obviously love Emery more than anything in the whole world now that she's here, but once Emery was born I think that I expected my body to just bounce back to what it had been before getting pregnant and that definitely has not been the case. From weird looking boobs that will never be the same after breast-feeding to loose skin and belly that both used to be tight, I have and still am struggling to come to a place of self acceptance where I can really feel confident and comfortable in my own skin again. A few months ago I ran across a message that read, "imperfect." I instantly fell in love with the motto and went to work to create the shirt above so that I could constantly have it as a reminder. Whether it's a post-baby body or something that you've been struggling with since middle school, I feel like most everyone probably has something about their physical appearance that they consider "imperfect". I feel like it is SO important to remember that those little so-called imperfections are far from actually being imperfect; in fact, they really are what makes you as perfect as can be! Whether it's a physical trait that makes you unique from everyone else, or something that tells a story of an experience you've been through and a challenge that you've overcome, your body is so beautiful and perfect just the way it is, and accepting it as such can seriously be such a life changer. It is easier said than done, but everyday I'm working to change my mindset from "look at how imperfect I am" to "I'M PERFECT" just the way I am. :) Be sure to check out all of my lovely blogger friend's looks below and to follow #bloggersFALLfor on Instagram to keep up with all of the trends we've featured so far! Sorry for the longer post, but I so appreciate you for stopping by and reading! You are all so wonderful and I love you all! :)
