weight & height: 10 lbs. 7 oz. & 22 inches long, that's a total gain of 3 pounds and inches gained since birth! We went to the doctor today for a checkup and she told me that I'm in the 80th percentile for both height and weight... I'm not sure what that means but it seems to be a good thing. :) eating & sleeping: It turns out that I REALLY love the taste of milk, so eating has been going great for me so far! During the day I'll typically get hungry every 2-3 hours, then at night I'll get hungry and eat every 4 hours or so. Because I'm such a nice baby and also love my sleep, I've worked out my eating schedule so that Mom only has to wake up once with me in the middle of the night (my other feeding times are usually around midnight and 8 AM), and that's worked out well so that both of us can get a little more sleep. :) exciting firsts/milestones: Because I'm still pretty new to this whole "outside the womb" thing everything is technically a first for me, but one of the big ones worth writing down is that I had my first bath! I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but once I got into it I realized that it wasn't too bad, and that the warm water actually felt really nice! Now I love bath time (as long as I'm not hungry - if I'm hungry then food is all I can think about until I'm fed!) things I love: One of my favorite things to do is be outside; the warm air feels so nice and the KY humidity doesn't bother me one bit! Mom & Dad take me on lots of walks which are always really fun, and Mom will take me to the swimming pool a couple times a week. I haven't gotten in the pool all the way yet, but I've tried putting my feet in the water a couple of times and thought that was pretty neat! I also really love people and attention, so Mom tries to make sure that I'm always in the same room as her so that I don't miss out on anything exciting! things I don't enjoy so much: I really don't like having things put over my head, so getting dressed & undressed (especially in my nightgowns for bed) is not very fun. I also HATE having to wait longer than a couple of minutes to eat if I'm feeling hungry, and will make sure to share my frustration as loudly as possible so that I don't have to wait any longer than absolutely necessary to get my food! Besides that I'm a pretty easy going baby though, and am typically pretty happy! mom & dad's biggest parenting lesson so far: We've really been working with Mom on learning how to just chill out and trust her motherly instincts. She got Papa Anderson's worrying genes and overthought literally every single aspect of taking care of me for my first few weeks of life. She's slowly learning to stop reading parenting articles/advice on the internet that could cause her unnecessary stress though, and is finding that the more she trusts her instincts that the easier things go overall. I try to let both of them know that they're doing a good job by giving them lots of smiles and cuddles every day, and that seems to help. :)
Mom seemed to have so much fun doing her bump updates while she was pregnant with me that I decided to join in on the excitement and share monthly growth updates with all of you during my first year of life! I hope that you all enjoy reading as we work to document the fun little moments that make being a baby so special. :)
So far we are all loving being a family of three and can't wait to see what this first year holds in store!
(Also, a big thanks to my sweet friend Taylor for the cute stuffed lamb to help track my growth!)
