Simple Saturday: Making Banana Bread

This Saturday was the first day since Kyle and I have moved here that we didn't really have anything planned, which was nice. Sometimes it can be so easy to get caught up in the business of life that we forget to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life, so this weekend, we decided to do just that by staying in and making some banana bread.

{literally all the necessary ingredients to make this amazing bread}
Kyle and I were able to work together to make the bread which made this whole process a really fun (and free!) date for the two of us, and the process to actually make the bread was so easy it just added to the enjoyment! Kyle and I put about a teaspoon of vanilla into our bread mixture as well just because we thought it would taste good, but I'm sure that it'd taste great using the exact recipe as well! Here is the finished product......
Now before we get started I need to make a quick disclaimer: I am not much of a baker. I had never once tried making bread before, and typically when our bananas got too ripe I would just throw them away. Which is horribly wasteful, and a shame since they can be used to make something so delicious. While staying with our in-laws for a few weeks I saw my amazing mother-in-law make banana bread with her ripe bananas all the time and it was DELICIOUS, so when I saw these bananas in our cupboard I decided to try and give them the same incredible potential that she did and got online to find a good (and hopefully easy) recipe. I ended up finding one at All Recipes, and it did not disappoint. My favorite thing about it was that the ingredients list was seriously so short and all of it I was able to find in my baking cupboard, so I wasn't having to go to the store to buy ingredients just for the sake of not wasting a couple of bananas.

Pretty right?! I was amazed!! I don't always have the best luck in the kitchen but this bread was a definite WIN that I will be making again in the future! The original recipe for the bread can be found here, but I will also post the recipe onto my Recipe page (with the vanilla added in) since this recipe has proven itself a keeper!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well! Remember to enjoy the simple things in life! They really are the best!
